Each year at the Annual Meeting, NC SOPHE recognizes outstanding and significant contributions made in the Health Education profession.

The Citation Committee welcomes you to submit nominations for any of the four awards that have been established by NC SOPHE. The four nomination award categories, which are fully described in the nomination packet, are the:

· Grace Daniel Promising New Health Educator Award
· Outstanding Health Educator Award
· Kathy Kerr Outstanding Health Education Project Award
· Chapter Student Recognition Award

Please take the time to recognize deserving health educators who have made a positive impact in our field.

Nominations and supporting documents must be submitted electronically AS ONE DOCUMENT to tekeelagreen@gmail.com (via e-mail, PDF format ONLY) by 5pm on June 30, 2018. Nominations received after this time or incomplete nomination packets will not be considered. 

NC SOPHE Citation Package 2018

Each year at the fall Annual Meeting, NC SOPHE awards two, one-year scholarships in the amount of $500 each to NC SOPHE members who are actively enrolled in programs related to health education (or similar fields).

2016 Award Winners

Congratulations to Ms. Mykenzie Montgomery from East Carolina University. Ms. Montgomery is the winner of the Op Ed contest sponsored by the NC SOPHE Advocacy Committee. The title of her Op Ed was “Increasing the NC Smoking Age to 21.”

Congratulations to Ms. Alexis Steptoe for being the recipient of the Emily T. Tyler Academic Scholarship. The one-year scholarship is given to an NC SOPHE member who is actively enrolled in a graduate degree program related to health education. Ms. Steptoe is a graduate assistant at UNC Greensboro.
