The individual in this position is responsible for a broad range of duties related to the planning, organizing, marketing, implementing local public health accreditation. Overall direction is provided by the Accreditation Administrator and Program Officer. The incumbent performs with considerable latitude and independent judgement, subject to School of Public Health and University policies, state and federal laws and regulations, and other guidelines governing the local public health accreditation program. The incumbent functions as a member of a small group of professional personnel whose work is closely interrelated in its function, organization, and client agency relationships. The incumbent works extensively with employees from local, regional, and state level educational, public health, and related agencies; professional associations; and various other individuals and organizations to facilitate the accreditation process. Illustrative Duties and Responsibilities: Serves as an accreditation site visit coordinator in the North Carolina Institute for Public Health, which is Accreditation Administrator for the North Carolina Local Public Health Accreditation Program. Independently coordinates site visits and serves as liaison between agency and site visitors during the site visit process. Anticipate 8-12, overall, three to five day local health department site visits annually, requiring travel in-state. Consults with practitioners, faculty, and professional associations to assess the nature and scope of problems and needs which are related to local public accreditation. Manage the work of advisory boards and program development committees. Demonstrated skill in managing large projects with distributed teams and external partners. Provides training to agency coordinators, consultants, and site visitors in regards to the accreditation process, preparation of the Health Department Self-Assessment Instrument (HDSAI), and the site visit process. Provides technical assistance to agency coordinators and consultants throughout the HDSAI preparation process. Manages compilation and distribution of agency HDSAIs and site visitor reports to appropriate parties. . Prepares communications, publications, oral presentations and reports as necessary for the Accreditation Program. Assumes various responsibilities as delegated by the Accreditation Administrator and Program Officer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated skill to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals, including community leaders and public health agency staff Knowledge of the accepted practices and standards of project management. General knowledge of the North Carolina state health systems and related human service systems is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Minimum Training and Experience Master’s Degree in health, business, education or related field preferred or Bachelor’s degree with minimum five years related experience in public health, business or related field. A successful candidate will be thoroughly knowledgeable and experienced in project and program management.

Salary: Initial salary will be $40,000 – 50,000 annually, based upon education and experience.
