In all of its activities, the Women’s Center strives to promote an awareness of different racial, cultural and ethnic perspectives both locally and globally. Programs and services reflect a wide range of viewpoints about women’s concerns and gender equity. The Center’s purpose is to increase retention, graduation and placement for women students at NCCU. Additionally, the Center works to increase the knowledge of gender issues, empower women to explore options in their lives, and motivate both women and men toward greater involvement in these issues as leaders, allies, and agents of change on campus and in the world

The Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Community Coordinator will act as a liaison between campus response and community partners as it relates to response to incidents of sexual assault, domestic and dating violence and stalking as well as oversee parental involvement in the project. Duties include, but are not limited to: 1. Providing instruction to students, faculty, staff and parents through workshops and presentations; 2. Providing immediate crisis support, information and referral to student victims; 3. Supervising the Coordinated Community Response Team (CCR) and training students ,faculty, staff and community leaders; 4. Serving as the campus contact person for community partner team members and liaising with the Durham Crisis Response Center to shape campus crisis response protocols; 5. Representing NCCU on local community-based response teams, such as Durham’s Sexual Assault Response Team and Domestic Violence Response Team; 6. Presence at Week of Welcome First-year Orientation and Family Weekend; 7. Serve on the Durham TRY consortium of agencies; 8. Supervising and training students, with the assistance of the Campus Coordinator, programs designed and implemented by peer educators; 9. Designing and implementing other preventive programs for students on violence against women; 10. Developing systems to collect data from students that measure program results; 11. Keeping current with national best practices in service provision related to violence against women, especially as they relate to students at HBCUs, and 12. Supervising student workers.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Demonstrated ability to develop community coalitions and outreach to the community; * Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to conduct educational programs and training workshops; * Familiarity with best practices related to policy development and victim advocacy preferred; and * Proficient computer skills TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Required qualifications: MSW, MPH, or equivalent degree in human science field and 2 to 5 years of experience; * Demonstrated ability to provide support to victims of sexual violence; * Available to work some nights and/or weekends * Ability to work with a diverse population of students and colleagues. An understanding or experience working with HBCU populations preferred.
