Basic Function: The Senior Nutrition Health Educator (SNHE) serves as an expert on matters of nutrition at the Poe Center. The SNHE assists with research, design and development of education curriculum, supplemental materials and develops and ensures comprehensive evaluation of reaction, learning, and behavior change. The SNHE mentors and provides guidance to contract health education staff on nutrition related issues. The SNHE assists with the coordination of contracts related to nutrition; including working with teachers, parents and administrators to implement projects from development, through implementation, to evaluation and reporting. The SNHE delivers consistent, quality health education in the Nutrition Theater and is familiar and willing to assist with the remaining four areas: general health, family life, dental health and drug prevention education. Major Duties and Responsibilities: + Master the course content of nutrition related programs offered at the Poe Center. + Contribute to proposal writing for grants requiring education/nutrition components. + Remain abreast on latest nutrition/health information. + Provide leadership, direction and instruction to contract nutrition health education staff and project partners. + Assist with the development, implementation/coordination and evaluation of outreach programs across North Carolina. + Continually seek and incorporate methods of instruction that will enhance and enrich the learning experience. + Explore and implement strategies that actively involve participants in the presentations. + Research and develop supplemental materials for outreach, classroom, teacher and parental use. + Research and purchase teaching materials, videos and other resources that will enhance learning. + Troubleshoot and rectify technical problems with theater and outreach technologies. + Develop and implement on-going evaluation of program effectiveness and preference. + Responsible for all coordination of the Healthy Habits Summer Nutrition Camp. + Be familiar with, and willing to lead programs in remaining four curriculum areas, developing a proficiency in those areas as specified by the Senior Director of Educational Programs (SDEP). + Be responsive to the needs of other staff, Board and volunteers as time and expertise allows. + Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the SDEP and Executive Director

BS in Nutritional Sciences, Health Education degree or an equivalent combination of work experience and college level course work is required. Registered Dietitian and Masters degree preferred. Minimum of one year of practical education/teaching experience in learner-centered environments. Experience in curriculum design and development, education, technical writing and evaluation. Ability to make independent decisions and manage various responsibilities with minimal supervision. Strong commitment to the Poe Center’s mission. Extensive experience in the use of educational and office technologies, including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
