This is advanced level professional work serving as the Health Promotion Coordinator for the Department of Public Health. The position is responsible for developing and implementing the local community action plan for the North Carolina Statewide Health Promotion Program. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based interventions toward the promotion of physical activity, healthy eating, tobacco use prevention/cessation, and convening community partners. This position will work two days per week at the Student Health Centers located at the county’s four high schools. Responsibilities will be directed toward addressing issues that teenagers face related to making wise life choices to reduce the dependency on TANF program funds for out-of-wedlock births. The ability to write and speak effectively with all age groups involving sensitive issues is a must. This position requires computer and efficient multi-tasking skills. Grant writing skills are strongly desired. Work will be coordinated with the Rockingham County Healthy Carolinians Partnership and supervised by the Health Education Program Manager.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in health education and one year of experience in public health education or a related field; graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to those applicants with experience working with teens and community collaboration effects.
