The goal of the Iredell County Health Department is to promote and protect the personal and environmental health of the over 100,0000 citizens of Iredell County. This goal is accomplished by actively working to safeguard personal health and promote quality health for all ages, promoting healthy lifestyles through education, and monitoring potential environmental health problems. The primary purpose of the Health Education Section of the Health Education and Emergency Preparedness (HEEP) Division of Iredell County Health Department is to provide comprehensive, current health information, education and healthy living skills to individuals and groups in the clinical and community setting. The misssion of this section is to empower individuals and groups to make informed, appropriate decisions regarding their lifestyle habits and choices in preventing disease and disability.

The candidate will assist with health education services of the Iredell County Health Department in the clinical and community settings including but not limited to civic, faith or community groups; or groups associated with agencies such as educational, non-profit, city or county organizations. Focus areas include prenatal health, breast and cervical cancer prevention, worksite wellness and child fatality. Must be able to work before- or after-hours and weekends as needed.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in health education; or graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Occasional travel, use of personal vehicle, valid NC Drivers License, and varicella and Hepatitis B immunity required. An efficient, creative, self-starting team member is desired. Professionalism is a must. Spanish speaking proficiency is a plus.

Salary base $27,760
