Grant-funded through the NC HIV/STD Prevention Grant, coordinates HIV/STD health education activities for all citizens in the community where duties include offering confidential HIV and Syphilis testing; conducting scheduled HIV/STD health education programs in the community; providing community outreach; participating in the planning and implementation of community activities with other agencies; attending health fairs; and preparing required program reports.
Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education or a related field and 1 year of related public health education experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus. Valid NC Driver’s License, good driving record, and own transportation. Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. Hours: 8AM-5PM weekdays; requires flexibility to work weekend and evening hours (possibly 9PM-2AM) to the meet needs of the program; must be available for emergency situations. Applicants who meet the minimum education requirement, but lack the experience, may be considered at a trainee rate of $34,174. Community outreach duties may be performed in non-traditional settings, including night clubs. Position is expected to last according to the availability of funds and/or need of the department.
