Southeastern Regional Medical Center's (SRMC) Community Health Services Department positions available- SRMC is a non-profit organization licensed for 314 beds located in Lumberton, North Carolina. Our primary focus is the health and well-being of our community. SRMC's Community Health Services department provides a variety of health promotion and chronic disease management services to the residents of Robeson and surrounding counties.

Job Summary: Responsible for the day to day health promotion delivery activities designed to increase awareness of the community at large. Essential Job Functions: The employee will perform the major functions of the job listed below. Other related duties not mentioned below may be required and specific functions may change over time. 1. Assist the Manager of Community Health Services with the overall project management and implementation of all community health initiatives assigned (screens, vaccinations, health fairs, programs and events). Programs include the Risk Watch Injury Prevention Program, Prostate Cancer Screenings, and all Health Observance Programming to meet the needs of the community. 2. Utilizing the most updated community health needs assessment available assess the existing community health programs on an ongoing basis to determine their quality, cost effectiveness and impact on the audience served. 3. Select and/or develop culturally sensitive (childhood to the extreme aged) health risk assessment tools, health promotion/prevention and lifestyle modification education materials for various target populations. 4.Develop and implement health education and health promotion activities, programs and events designed to meet the needs of Robeson County residents. Serve as a speaker/facilitator for all programs and classes qualified; coordinate and implement day to day program delivery activities 6. Develop, coordinate and implement culturally sensitive and age appropriate (childhood to the extreme aged), health education programs, health promotion activities and materials for all screens, health fairs and health promotion events. 7. Coordinate staff and supervise the preliminary set-up of equipment and educational materials needed for community risk assessment screenings and health promotion events. Serve as a screening results interpreter and health educator at all screenings. 8. Recruit, train and supervise all staff used for health education classes and health promotion initiatives to include community volunteers, lay health advisors and staff of special funded projects (i.e., Project T.R.U.S.T. and Project HEALTH grants). 9. Accurately perform and record quality control measures on all health risk equipment (Cholestech LDX Lipid Analyzer) and Accu-check Inform blood glucose meter. Insure proficiency of all Cholestech LDX Lipid Analyzers (both departmental and those purchased through grant funds) by performing testing (calibration verification and surveys) according to department and organization policies and procedures. 10. Develop and implement marketing strategies and materials (flyers, banners, block ads, etc.) designed to enhance participation in community health promotion initiatives. 11. Assist in operating the department within budget by maintaining accurate records of routine budget and grant expense reports. Demonstrate cost consciousness through efficient use of time, materials, staff, equipment and supplies. 12. Oversee the status of all equipment and supplies purchased and/or repaired with hospital and grant funds. 13. Attend all mandatory in-services, performance improvement activities and actively participate in all assigned committee meetings (i.e., the Robeson County Partnership for Community Health, Robeson County Safe Kids Coalition and the SRMC Cancer Community Outreach Subcommittee). Attend and serve in professional and civic service organizations as an SRMC representative. Enhance professional growth and development by reading current literature and participating in continuing education programs to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of health education and health promotion.
Bachelor of Science degree in a health related field is required (i.e., community health education, health promotion, etc.); prefer degree in community health education. Certified as a Community Health Education Specialist (CHES) a plus.
